We’re excited to relaunch Circular Brighton & Hove—a fresh chapter for a community that helped bring the circular economy conversation to life in our city.
Founded in 2018 as part of the global Circular Economy Club network, Circular Brighton & Hove set out with a bold vision: to help Greater Brighton communities thrive by becoming Circular Economies.
Through monthly events, collaborations with local experts, and partnerships with Brighton & Hove City Council, we built a network of over 500 individuals and played a key role in shaping the city’s early circular economy strategies.
Our efforts helped embed sustainability into the 2018 City Economic Plan, led to the publication of the Brighton & Hove Circular Economy Routemap and Action Plan (2020), and laid the groundwork for campaigns like Brighton & Hove Loop.
Like many, our momentum was disrupted by the pandemic. Post-lockdown, engagement proved more difficult—but much has changed. Today, the circular economy conversation is louder and broader, championed by organisations like the Brighton Chamber, Clean Growth UK, and grassroots movements like People, Planet, Pint.
We believe it’s the perfect time to refresh our strategy, redefine our role, and reconnect with a growing community of changemakers. The original call for a Circular Economy Declaration may have run its course, but the need for collaboration, experimentation, and local action is more urgent than ever.
What’s next? That’s something we want to shape with you. Whether you’re a business, academic, campaigner or curious citizen. We invite your ideas, energy, and enthusiasm.
Sign up for our newsletter, share your circular initiatives, and help co-create Brighton & Hove’s next wave of circular innovation.
Let’s go (even more) circular—together.
